Informed Consent
We carefully describe the proposed procedure. The description includes an outline of the purpose, the likely outcome,
and the potential complications of the procedure. We answer all of your questions honestly. We want you to know
all the answers so that you are comfortable with your decision.
Anesthesia
We often use a sedative to relieve anxiety prior to the procedure. The sedative causes drowsiness as well.
Also, we use a topical, local, or general anesthetic to relieve pain during the procedure. We want to perform your
procedure with as little discomfort as possible.
Analgesia
We use analgesics to relieve pain after the procedure. Non-narcotic analgesics, such as acetaminophen, aspirin,
or ibuprofen, are used to relieve mild pain. Narcotic analgesics, which are more potent, are reserved for moderate to
severe pain. We will prescribe an appropriate analgesic after your procedure.
